Wonder why the video has apparently been edited at take-off and landing. It leaps vertically to about 2m on take-off, and drops the last 2m on landing. Does something secret happen in the missing frames? I'm not given to conspiracy theories or "wacky stuff", just curious.

Those frames aren't missing. What you're seeing or, rather, not seeing, is the effect of the drone's proprietary 'fastest gun in the West' feature.

I must have the correct clearances. I don't see any jumping in my version, it went smoothly up and down.

What's the big deal?

My question is, "Why bother?"

Those 4 motors required to hover must pull tremendous power off the batteries. Why not just power up the conventional prop, throw the thing to launch, and use the power saved for the mission (whatever that might be).

Mission time is the main concern for any of us that work in that arena of aviation, piloted aircraft in my case.

The advantage of the featured system is that it can be retro-fitted to existing fixed-wing drones.
