NASA Unveils its Futuristic Warp Drive Starship Called Enterprise, Of Course

Now taking applications for Starship Captain and crew....(own uniforms a plus)

Not being picky or anything, but if it is to be our first theoretical warp drive vessel then shouldn't it be named after Doctor Zefram Cochrane the theoretical inventor of humanities first warp drive vessel?

Not quite as iconic....

Tradition would dictate that any new spaceship design would have it's first prototype named Enterprise, after the most famous starship of future history from the past.

Doesn't mean the first one to see actual use is the Enterprise, remember, the first Space Shuttle was named Enterprise, and it was never designed for actual spaceflight. It was basically a 1:1 scale model to test the aerodynamics and landing capabilities.

Now, when we get a vehicle to test the warp drive in the field, it should be named Phoenix, and it should play for the crew (and broadcast back to earth on the communication channel) Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" before engaging the drive for the first time in space.

It's a long stretch from trying to detect the phenomenon to powering a spaceship across the galaxy! We have very little ability to warp spacetime, so I wouldn't want to invest in it just yet.

invest in the uniform instead!

Let's open this badboy up and see what it can do.....
