Reconfigurable Clockless Logic Replaces ASICs

Startup Wave Semiconductor is developing a new class of reprogrammable logic devices called Azure, which the company claims can replace costly application-specific standard products (ASSPs) and ASICs while offering the reprogrammable flexibility and low engineering cost of FPGAs. These self-synchronizing logic devices incorporate an architecture using wave threshold logic (WTL) multipliers and other IP blocks that cut power consumption significantly.

This looks interesting and worth watching as they develop it, but there are some big hurdles to over come with heat and compatibility with clocked systems.
