Sponsored Blog Posts on CR4

Posted July 10, 2015 10:01 AM

As I mentioned a while back, sponsored posts will soon appear on CR4. The first one will be launched on Sunday July 12.

When launching this opportunity, we did our best to strike a balance between what will satisfy our customers without upsetting the balance of the CR4 community. (Note that spam has never been tolerated and we're still doing our best to remove it as soon as it's posted!)

Here is some information about our sponsored blog post program:

  • Sponsored blog posts will be labeled as such.
  • There will be a maximum of only two sponsored blog posts each week.
  • Each blog post will initially run on a Sunday, and it will be promoted at the top of CR4 Monday-Friday of that week.
  • You are invited to discuss the topic in the comments section of the blog post, but please follow our site rules.
  • Comments related to a dislike for the sponsored post program (or similar) will be deleted. If you have questions/concerns, please send me a message directly. Or comment here!

So no critical comments allowed, just approvals?

No comments being critical of the fact that it's a sponsored post. In other words if you don't like with the sponsored post format, please take it up with me, not the sponsor.

I will give it another day before I un-subscribe. I'm sorry, but my MALE parts are just fine and I don't think this is the right place for those ads. I could not find anything worth clicking on since the post to AD ratio was about 1 to 5...

PS, why destroy a good thing with SEX ads?

What you are seeing is not CR4 endorsed ads, but spam!

Unfortunately, this site appears to get more and more of these.

Those aren't the ads! Those are spam and we're doing our best to remove them promptly. We don't always have someone to moderate on weekends, so it can be a little worse on Saturdays and Sundays.

Ads will always be relevant and on topic for CR4.

I hate seeing those things cluttering up this site, but it must be worse for you weeding them out.

Pretty demoralizing, actually.

If the ads are what I see to the right and above, I kinda like seeing new things. I have no problems with those. It just seemed that the sex spam showed up at the same time that you launched the ads.

I do know how it can be a problem to keep up with, I used to run a Bulletin Board (named PETULA) on a Commodore PET computer in the early 80's before the internet. We SYSOP's know about those problems.

I visited Mouser Electronics today. Yesterday I visited Newark Electronics. If those sites are giving me the ads, then I think it is time to retire. Other wise, if you are the voice of this blog, I think it is time for me to quit my subscription. I do not visit any sites (and that includes Yahoo) that would put those kind of things in front of me and I don't like what you are implying.

No, I'm not the voice of this site,... As far as quiting your subscription here, That's up to you. Otherwise, you put something out there, complained and started placing blame, I put out an alternative reason.

What I was referring to was the E-Mail I had received, I had not clicked on any of the links in the email. The email was MUCH larger than usual and about 1 in 5 links looked to be real. Maybe the spam filter at IHS engineering360 failed that morning or something, but it did happen on the day I had been told they were putting up paid ads. Two and Two made four in my mind...

The Daily Digest email you receive is a summary of the day's posts on CR4. It was just unfortunate timing that there happened to be a lot of spam that wasn't caught that day.

We've been working hard to get rid of the spam on the site, and hopefully things are better now!

Much better. In fact the ad's I see now in the email look very professional. The new look is OK with me. I am sorry I complained, but I was in shock that morning.

No problem! I can completely understand your point. The timing was unfortunate.
