Excavators Engineered for Efficiency

Posted October 17, 2015 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

A new series of excavators engineered and manufactured by one of the most trusted names in the business is about to hit the global market. Outfitted with Tier IV Final five- and eight-liter emission-reducing diesel engines that boast a 5% increased efficiency over older models, the excavators are built toperform in both on- and off-road capacities under the roughest of conditions. Complementing the powerful engine is a 24V, high performance electrical system, new operator safety options like rollover protection, and a low profile chassis and boom design for digging in tight, difficult to reach spaces such as under bridges.

I don't really see the 5% gain in efficiency as a bragging point being the advent of emission compliance on industrial diesels knocked their fuel efficiency s down anywhere from 15% to 30 % depending on the model and what level of emission compliance modifications were used.

To me that like when a store raises the prices of something by 50% for no good reason then drops them back 25% from there later and proclaims they are now 25% cheaper than before.

That's all nice, but how well do they dig?
