Amazon's World Record Reach

A record was set in London recently at the site of the new Amazon headquarters when the articulated tower crane erected to assist in steel frame tower construction was assembled along with a hook height of 88 m. When the concrete slip-forming portion of the project overtook the installation of structural steel, it became impossible to tie in the tower crane, necessitating use of a self-contained unit. The street was shut down, and a 300 ton mobile long boom crane was brought in to do the job along with its world record extension. With its 4 m out-of-service radius the long boom crane is ideal for operating in compact inner city conditions.
