Most of the glues, processes and applications for them that are mentioned are not a "revolution in adhesives". The majority of the adhesives listed were either old or regularly used 40 years ago. Structural? U/F, Phenol/Formaldehyde, PVA's and Caseins are only a small sampling of what was then and still used for structural member fabrication. Flush doors, plywood, particle board, glulams, rim boards, facades have used some of the "new from the quiet revolution" adhesives for a long, long time.

Yes, there have been numerous advances in adhesives but most of what was written is not new, infrequently done as described or completely not done as described.

Is Elmer's Glue a revolutionary PVA? No, it is at least 60 years old! Is Elmer's Carpenter's Glue, also a PVA, (of which there are now at least 3 different types of products) a new product? No, it was introduced at least 35 years ago! If you are going to have a quiet revolution keep it accurate.
