Floating a New Tidal Energy Scheme

A time-lapse video condenses the construction and installation of the first BlueTEC tidal energy platform into about five minutes. Realization of the project off Texel Island in The Netherlands actually required only six months from drawing to launch. Operation of the 100 kW Tocardo T1 turbine has been a success since the summer 2015 startup, report Texel Tidal partners in Tidal Energy Today. Near-term plans include increasing capacity with addition of a T2 200 kW Tocardo turbine. While supplying power to the Dutch grid, the BlueTEC system also demonstrates a tidal energy solution for remote islands in Asia and the Pacific.
