Guess the Architecture! for 11/29/2016

Posted November 29, 2016 5:00 PM by MaggieMc

Can you figure out what and where this building is? It’s one of my favorites. If you don’t recognize the architecture, be sure to check back!

Its not a building,or is it?

There is major details missing in the drawing, that might lead to the correct guess.

So far I'd say its some sort of wood structure for a lofty roof above a kings pathway.

Or it is a old wooden station roof over with two platforms.

I would classify this part of the architecture as more of a structure than a building.

Though you "beat me" , to THAT response . . .

. . . . . <link>

The ORIGINAL ... (OP) image is not at all resemblant of Romanesque, Indian, Islamic, or (any number of other) styles ... yet does bear a striking association to the Gothic vault ... (more English than French).

However ... I haven't yet visited anything exhibiting that style, overarching a path to the edge of the Grand Canyon...(or whatever it seems to be leading-to...!)

MY guess is : it's part of the plan for some "Fantasy-World" building in a new 3D game/simulation of some-sort-or-another

Give us a cropped PHOTO-IMAGE!

On a second look it seems rather steel. I still think it is part of a train station.

This week you guys identified many of the key elements to this piece of architecture: “the steel and glass trees that interlock” to form a kind of gothic vault. IdeaSmith even identified this structure as a train station. If you put all of those pieces together, you’ll find this week’s post was the Oriente Station in Lisbon, Portugal. The architect, Santiago Calatrava, recently completed another train station, the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, in New York City.

Quite a while back, I've seen pictures of something much like this, except that the (trees) were made up of precast concrete units...
