Flat Earthers, that group of folks who even in the face of scientific evidence believe that the Earth is a flat disk shape, are reportedly preparing to embark on a party cruise that will set sail sometime in 2020 to dispel the NASA-perpetrated myth that the Earth is round.
Moving along....
Announced by the Flat Earth International Conference (FEIC) — a collection of what I can only hope are mischievous folks just hoping to have a go at the rest of us — the cruise destination is the Antarctic “ice wall,” otherwise known as the wall of ice that allegedly keeps the ocean back (not to mention white walkers out) and marks the ends of the Earth.
“If you take a globe and you squish it down, the Antarctic would go all the way around the Earth. It’s kind of like an ice shore and it’s very, very large. It’s not like you just go there and you can just peek over it,” Robbie Davidson, FEIC’s founder said.
Described by the FEIC as "the biggest, boldest adventure yet," some might argue that the FEIC celebratory cruise will become less so when it is discovered that most global positioning and other navigational systems likely directing their efforts rely on the Earth being…well…round.
But let’s not spoil the party for them. I’m sure they’ll figure it out on their own considering how well they come to creative conclusions.
For now, details about when and where the FEIC will set sail are unavailable.
