In preparation for the so-called robocalypse, where human workers will likely be replaced by machines, one robotics company is preparing to pay those displaced by robots a monthly stipend.
The company, Makr Shakr, which built the Toni robotic bartending system, is retraining one such displaced person for another career while also paying him the monthly sum of $1,000 following the recipient’s job loss.
Although there is no time line available for how long a recipient can expect to receive the stipend, Makr Shakr promises that for every robot bartender it deploys, a human recipient of their choosing will begin receiving the stipend.
But don’t count on your monthly stipend just yet. The speed with which these robot employees emerge will likely bankrupt Makr Shakr in no time at all, at least according to robocalypse preppers who envision a world where robots take over all of our tasks while we sit idly by…that is at least until they turn on us entirely.
Stay tuned.
