A billionaire preparing to become the first private passenger aboard a SpaceX rocket slated to orbit the moon in 2023 is putting out feelers for a compatible lady friend to join him.
In a scenario that I have (perhaps, unoriginally) dubbed Bachelor in Space, eligible ladies can vie for a seat aboard SpaceX’s Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) alongside Japanese billionaire Yusaka Maezawa, founder of the online fashion retailer Zozo Inc.
To win Maezawa’s heart, candidates should be single, over the age of 20, have an interest in space and always be in possession of a positive attitude (that is to say, the candidate should not begin immediately complaining about the conditions of space, the rocket or Maezawa).
What will happen if sparks don’t fly between Maezawa and his chosen space lady friend? Space lady friend can expect to be stuck with Maezawa for six whole days as they awkwardly orbit the moon.
With perhaps excessively high expectations for someone about to embark upon what borders on a reality dating show set in space, Maezawa wrote on his website:
"As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there's one thing that I think about: Continuing to love one woman."
"I want to find a 'life partner'," Maezawa added. "With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space."
Applicants vying to become Maezawa’s space lady friend can submit their applications through Friday, January 17, 2020.
