Not Your Father's LEGO Project

In case you haven't noticed, LEGO(R) has gone high tech. No longer just a bag of interlocking plastic bricks, the famous building toys now incorporate computers, motors, sensors, axles, gears, and pneumatic parts. Enthusiasts even exhibit their creations — like this pneumatic engine — on YouTube.

This brings back memories of the 1950s and my Erector Set. These sets were great and could be motorized and automated -- at least automated to the extent available in the 50s. No computers of course. Things like basic limit switches to stop action and start another.

Lego seems to be the on-going Erector Set for the current time.
