Reminds me of the tests I saw of the first ground based lasers. Incredibly effective as long as

a) you have three weeks to prepare,

b) the enemy flies in a slow moving propeller driven airplane,

c) the airplane is painted in a colour that will absorb the maximum amount of the wavelength you are using

d) your enemy flies straight and level while you shoot at them, and finally,

e) they don't send another plane over for at least three more weeks.

To sum up, there are WAY cheaper, better , more effective ways to accomplish the same task. This is a waste of money, technology for the sake of it.
