U.N. Chief: Agree to Climate Controls or Face Oblivion

During Al Gore's Nobel acceptance speech in Oslo, Gore was quoted as saying that History will hold us accountable for destroying our planet/civilization if we don't take stern measures very soon. Sounds pretty ominous - until you realize that if we do annihilate ourselves, no one will actually be here to do the accounting...

Now that's pragmatism...

It would be nice if somebody or anybody could describe a laboratory demonstration of the disastrous carbon dioxide greenhouse gas effect. I can do it, but the effect is slight and fleeting and most likely due to the atomic mass instead of infrared absorption. It would be wonderful if carbon dioxide could warm the Earth. This planet is already too cold for the poor, huddled masses yearning for a room somewhere far away from the cold night air.

References to carbon dioxide being toxic at levels greater than 300 ppm must surely be rerferring to carbon monoxide. My estimate is that we all have about 50,000 ppm carbon dioxide in our lungs during shallow breathing.

Poll results that include political commentary suggest that 137 percent of scientists blame carbon dioxide for global warming, and the rest of the scientists are idiots. Carbondioxophobes prove the greenhouse gas theory with charts plotting temperature as a function of human-produced carbon dioxide levels. Those charts closely resemble the charts plotting carbon dioxide levels as a function of temperature.

Nevertheless, we can pretend that fossil fuel burning is bad. We can impose caps on carbon dioxide production, but those caps will be adjusted according to how much money the associated emission credits will generate. All energy derived from solar, wind, nuclear, and geothermal sources will be in addition to fossil fuel energy and not in substitution of fossil fuel energy.

I am so tired of this crap. The earth is getting warmer. Remember the ice age. Yeah? well it's over right? Why? Because the Earth is getting warmer. Are we making it warmer faster - who knows. Should China, which owns 1/2 of the American debt - be less accountable than us ( the U.S.). Or any country vs any other? It's absurdity at it's finest.

How about this. We teach in schools around the world the real situation here on planet earth. Burning fossil fuels is bad. Some will be needed for a long time but try and do your best to discontinue your forebearer's ignorance. Please use less paper. Please use fewer chemicals. Soaps, detergent, hygiene products, ant killer, window cleaner, carpet shampoo and so many thousands of others really aren't that good for the environment and there are safe attractive products available. Small businesses could be sustained in local markets if we would shop locally. Pornography degrades a society and art does not. Music is good. Science can solve almost all our immediate ills if it were only more profitable to the existing power structure. Global politics are disgustingly grotesque and grow more brazen in their blatant deception of the public in their current incarnation. Your neighbor can paint their house any color they choose. War is almost always not the answer. 2/3 of the worlds grain is used as cattle feed which in turn feeds less than 1/3 of the worlds population. There is no chosen race. Men and women are equal. 1000's of plant and animal species become extinct each year. Social science serves the society poorly but knowing people as individuals is a gift. Don't build in a flood plain. India has monsoons. South America is in the western hemisphere ............

.........and perhaps most importantly..........

the minority will lie to you. They claim to be the majority.
