Building a Better Bridge?

With new ideas come new risks. The Archimedes Bridge project is an example of an innovative bridge design. Actually, the design makes it more of a submerged floating tunnel than a bridge. This European and Chinese-engineered bridge project is one example of new approaches to an old idea. It actually employs the ancient principles of Archimedes developed in the third century. It looks good on paper. So, do you think the Archimedes Bridge would provide a safer design than conventional bridges? What factors might make it too risky?

This idea is not new by any means! In the mid 1980s a hanging tunnel was proposed in Norway to bridge the Oslo Fjord, where there was a great depth. It was proposed to place it at a depth of 60m ie about 30fathoms, but it never came to fruition.
