China to develop next gen wireless broadband tech next year

Japan has already started work on the next generation Internet and now it is China's turn as it has announced to develop technology for a "next-generation broadband wireless mobile communication network" in 2008. Wang Xudong, the country's Information technology minister says 'the next-generation technology would be in line with developing trends in information technology and would contribute to innovation and Chinese companies' global competitiveness'.

No doubt there will be included means for monitoring and/or preventing access to/by the locals, as with the current Internet....
