Thin galaxies harbour big secret

Nasa's Spitzer telescope shows bulky black holes lurk where they are least expected - in skinny galaxies. So-called supermassive black holes were thought to reside at the cores of nearly all galaxies. But svelte galaxies lacking a central concentration of stars - or bulge - were thought to be a rare exception.

Of course all these things we see via the telescopes happened a very long while ago.

The thin galaxies are perhaps thin, because they have celestial vacuum cleaners, in the form of black holes, which have already removed much of their stars.

If this were true, all the "thin" galaxies would be older than the bulging ones but this is not always the case. If the black holes eat the stars away to make it a thin one, it concludes that all the skinny ones are older, as the stars have been eaten already.

I know it sounds a bit strange but the conclusion does hold. It does not feel right to me though. I am sure some of these bulging galaxies are very old and still have the bulging middle.

I rather think it has to do with how this galaxy came about and weather the anomaly at the middle made it possible to expand in a diffuse spherical way or weather it was restricted to bi-polar ejection of matter and energy at high velocity. The last one often spins very fast as well which could explain the flat disc shape.

I am not at all sure of course as this is rocket science and I am not even graduated in petrol yet. We need jorrie.
