The HumanCar LMV Imagine

Posted February 11, 2008 8:57 AM

From mental_floss Blog:

Fossil fuels are expensive, non-renewable in the short term, and are the root of some major geopolitical tensions. Biofuels are causing problems with the production of food for our planet. And the places we need to go are still too far to walk. Could a human-powered vehicle be the answer?

I think I saw this on television a while ago they called it....."The Flinstones". Seriously though, the article says that "teamwork" makes the job of steering and driving more "fun". They have obviously never driven with my parents! Does the term "backseat driver" ever have a good connotation? No, because nobody likes to share the task of driving when they are "behind the wheel".

I like to see these explorations because then we can decide what makes sense and what doesn't. Of course, I see a bicycle fufilling my needs in this area quite well. And if we have extra people, we use extra bicycles. But none the less, conversations about alternatives are good. Sometimes portions of ideas eventually get incorporated in mainstream products.

For fifteen grand a copy, I might just want one (in green, of course!) - but a two-seater-plus-cargo model would suit my needs MUCH better.

The cycle has proven to be the most efficient method of transport, both for fuel input/miles travelled, and the materials/energy input during manufacture.

These inventors also seem to have forgotten the child's pedal car, of which thousands were made and enjoyed.

I must admit I lusted after a pedal car, the nearest I got was to "drive" one owned by a friend.

There was also the hand-operated several-person railway trolley, which was driven via a pump-handle style arrangement. My cousin and I took one without permission, got it up to quite a high speed, (his father worked for the railways), then we realised that a train was soon due, so we stopped suddenly, heaved it off the rails, and a few minutes later heard the whistle of the approaching steam engine. Trouble awaited us on our return.....

Kind Regards....

Still now I growed up I can play with real one and lectricity and LEDs and water and sand too if I behave.
Mrs Cat might let me play with other things too if I don't behave ... well it is Valentine's day

"if I behave"

Cat, you have no choice but to 'behave' - that is merely 'what you do'. The choice is will it be good behavior, or bad behavior? For your sake, I hope it isn't too good...

I was using the term in it's vernacular rather than it's perpendicular sense. You must realise of course that you can't make a cat or a woman do anything.
Although I did once get a cat out of an airing cupboard by pushing it further in... a sort of physical manifestation of reverse psychology

Was it Descarte said 'I behave therefore I am?'

I think Descates said 'think', not 'behave', but the difference is smaller than a cat's attention span... Reverse psychology used on a cat - what a novel concept!

Personally, I subscribe to "Sweet Potato Logic".

I yam what I yam, and that's all what I yam.

Hello EnviroMan

It seems there is some confusion in your Post.

They are quite different, although all taste wonderful, after being roasted.

Kind Regards....

SparkY; I know the difference, but 'Yam Logic" doesn't have the same effect as "Sweet Potato Logic" to my ear. Besides, why give away the punch line so early? Most folks wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the tubers anyway. Ever have sweet potato french fries? Wonderful! And sweet potato pie is richer then pumpkin pie, definitely my preference. Presumably either could be done with the noble yam as well... Guess this is trending too much toward the 'what was your dinner' thread!
