World's largest Arch Bridge in Dubai by 2012

Posted February 12, 2008 8:44 AM

From Newlaunches.com:

Writing so much about this land and its man-made landscape, I am left with no newer words to describe the upcoming structures in Dubai. It's always the largest or the tallest or the most expensive kinds of terms only that can epitomize the construction coming up in this crazy place. The latest on the list is the World's largest Arch Bridge. The mile-long bridge will be 670 feet tall at its highest point! And it's gonna encompass 12 lanes of traffic with a metro line running down the center.

Well it certainly looks pleasing to the eye, and it's about time the Arabs started using more of their oil money to better the locals living standards! But of course this will never happen, if they did they may find that the locals will start to demand democracy in their countries?

Bite your tongue! A democracy in the Near East? Heresy! Who will care for and coddle all the kings and princes? The aristocracy always gets wealthier and the working class always suffers. Educating girls and women with public schooling? Radical! But beheading those who have a different religion is OK.

Hi Cardio07.

I agree with you entirely. I have worked in these counties many times, and seen how they treat their women! But it is not only their women, all manual work is done by people from the far east such as India and Indonesia, the Arabs themselves think that they are above such work.

As I look like an arab (dark skinned with a black moustache) I bought a traditional Arab dress so as to witness a whipping of a labourer that had allegedly stolen a trowel from another bricklayer. The spectacle was horendous, he got 60 lashes and his blood was everywhere.

So no, I do not expect democracy to break out in these countries?

hi guru

i think that you are partuly right , but not all the arabs this type, you are talking about gulf arabs ..they are rich but aragents, there is a lot of arab civilization that is not like that,Egypt for example..has history and education and respect for the women and manual work,i am egyption engineer and i go to work in arabian gulf country, they have the money and we have the knowledge , it is that simple..!,in lebanon for example which is arab country there is democracy,at the end i agree with you that there is not a tiny bit of democracy in 99% of arab countries , it is a sad fact but we accept it !

It's easy to see where they got the design.

From Loch Ness, and Nessie, who pays a surface visit now and then.

Seriously, those are going to be a possible target for idiots.

Kind Regards....
