Kicking NASA's Tires

Goodyear and NASA researchers are collaborating on the "next generation" lunar tire. Building on Apollo technology from the first moon landing years ago, they want a tire that can handle 10X the weight and travel 100X the distance of its wire mesh predecessor. Any ideas?

Please take a look at a 2.5 minute video on moving over rough surfaces. Go to video google and type in "rough terrain walker mechanism" in the search box, and the video will show a robotic mechanism in action.
