"I Hate My Job"

Posted January 27, 2008 8:16 AM

Miserable employees usually make poor employees — not to mention poor spouses, parents, and neighbors. What's a manager to do? Patrick Lencioni's book, "The Three Signs of a Miserable Job," outlines steps to take in righting the wrongs leading to job misery. Lencioni, CEO of The Table Group, plugs his book on this Amazon video.

Me too, interesting products to design, liberal employer & great workmates, what could be better (especially as some other bugger has just won the £18million lottery prize I was relying on).

Can't say that I love my job at the moment. It's first thing Monday morning. Later in the week, it will look better. One thing is certain; whatever I feel about my job, I love my paycheck!

I am 46 years old and I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. I consider my career journey as still in the exploration phase. Rather than "love my job", I seek and discover career bliss in the nuances of each experience and make slight course adjustments towards my preferred experience; ready, fire, aim. In a sense, I am finding the path to love my job.

I recommend reading "The Money Is The Gravy: Finding The Career That Nourishes You" by John Clark. I was able to check it out of my local library.

I LOVE MY JOB .. If you hate your job so much. I would honestly consider joining this awsome company called Liberty League. I earn $1000 a day at the least. I get $1000 per sale. I get to work from home, people call ME and i have seriously never have had so much money in my life. If you call this number its free and they will run you through what its all about. Ph: 1800 89 78 81. It will be the best thing you've ever done.

If you Google Liberty League & look at the results it sounds like Liberty League is a pyramid selling scheme in which a lot of people have lost a lot of money.

Advice noted and confirms one of my motto's is, "If it sounds to good to be true....it is".

I love my job. I'm self-employed. The guy I work for is an absolute nut case, however.

I am not a huge fan of the management book of the week. I find nothing wrong with this simple, time-honored approach to keeping the employees motivated: The beatings will stop as soon as morale improves.

Re: "I Hate My Job"

I love my job. Have all ways enjoyed it. What was making it and me miserable was the interaction with the employees. My employer saw this and requested that I take a training class that he was willing to fund.

What I found out was the problem was me. What I came to realize it was my expectation of other peoples abilities. I was gauging their abilities to think, reason and preform on my own.

With that I have learned to not expect much from the employees that I have contact with on daily bases. To try reward them with compliment for even the smallest task that they accomplish. In that they feel better about them self and strive to do better.

If our expectation of an employee is more than what the employee is capable of doing. Then all we accomplish is frustrating ourselves causing unnecessary worry. We make ourselves miserable.

I've never had that problem but, of course, I am perfect apart from perhaps a tendency to be excessively modest.

Then you better find a new job!

Is this book soon to be followed by the sequel "I hate my life" or has Dr. Kevorkian already written that (amazingly short) book?

Try empowering the employees with being part of the decision making process.
