Solar and Wind Leaf Photovoltaic Shingles

Posted March 04, 2008 9:22 AM

From MAKE Magazine:

This takes solar energy to a whole new level. It is simple, beautiful, and functional. Let's just hope it's affordable. SMIT (Sustainably Minded Interactive Technology) has a compelling new project called GROW that's an innovative and aesthetically arresting solar and wind power solution. Combining the best of green tech and ecology, GROW draws inspiration from ivy growing on the side of a building - resulting in a hybrid energy delivery device of flexible, ivy-like fluttering solar leaves that provide power via both sun and wind.

Yeh, afer I've wired up the first thousand I'll be getting a bit fed up...and when the plastic becomes brittle and they start fracturing/ripping off in a high wind...

Hey maybe that's why trees loose their leaves in Autumn?

I don't like to be negative ...but it's gotta be a non starter.

If they can make 'em that size...then for pities sake make it on a roll.
