Record Coke/Mentos Explosion

About 1,500 students participated in a Mentos/Diet Coke demonstration in Leuven, Belgium. Each wore a blue poncho and added Mentos mints to a bottle of Diet Coke for a simultaneous explosion! A new world record has been set. See more pictures in The Telegraph.

I fear that in the United States the Dept. of Homeland Security would consider this an IED on a massive scale and arrest these people for trafficking WMD's!

Besides, isn't this a huge release of CO2? How environmentally responsible is that in this age of Global Warming?

What fun! Maybe this will help develop the technology to bring use such marvels as Mentos/Diet Coke powered racing toothbrushes, flying lawnmowers and motorized phone cord twisters. Makes me wish I were back in school again to participate in such advancements in science.

Reminds me of George Gobel (remember Ol' Lonesome George?)! Played acoustic guitar. I recall he was once asked if he'd ever tried an electric guitar. He replied no, but he did have a gas-powered guitar once. He stopped playing it because when he played outdoor venues, the pilot light kept blowing out...

Funny stuff Enviroman, George Goble cracked me up with his "lost bowling ball" routine. He was truly brilliant. Thanks for the memories.
