A Lighting Strategy Savior?

With this summer's sky-rocketing oil prices, there is big interest in a small product: LEDs. The industry, from architects to product design engineers, is looking for a long-term lighting strategy with substantial cost and energy savings. LEDS and fluorescent light have similar efficiency. LEDS cost more, and fluorescents have mercury.

Leds have a near infinite life (if properly mounted and operated within their thermal limits for a long life). You will not need a socket for an LED, no need to ever change it.

In time LEDs will get cheaper and in the next 20 years will replace incandescent and fluorescent lights in most applications
