Russian Hopes To Cash In On Emoticons

Posted December 12, 2008 9:52 AM

From Slashdot:

According to a BBC article, Entrepreneur Oleg Teterin said the trademark for the ';-)' emoticon was granted to him by Russia's federal patent agency. 'Legal use will be possible after buying an annual licence from us,' he was quoted by the newspaper Kommersant as saying. 'It won't cost that much — tens of thousands of dollars,' added the businessman, who is president of Superfone, a company that sells advertising on mobile phones. The president of Russian social networking site odnoklassniki.ru, Nikita Sherman said: 'You're not likely to find any retards in Russia who'll pay Superfone for the use of emoticons.'"

I claim prior art from the early 90's using Unix Telnet (unix telnet) in many more variation than that retard <;-]

I may even have it on a 9 track tape real if some one still has a reader.

Yes there is, It's called Kalashnikov 74. Very similar to our 1800's colt equality clause.

After being shown the "Just us" of the US court system, I question any legal system. Where law is void justice is made not received.

as a side note-My personal opinion is Lawyers should be banned from public office.
