Muscle Car Factory Mustang

Posted January 26, 2009 4:55 PM by CarDomain

One of the things that really grabbed my attention at the Victorian Hot Rod Show on Friday was this Mustang Fastback. The thing that I really liked was that it was not any old Mustang. In fact it's not old at all, it's brand new!

The Muscle Car Factory is offering turnkey '67 Fastbacks using new bodies from Dynacorn, and they are the first to do it in this part of the world. Unlike some previous attempts by others where 'old' Mustangs were used to produce turn key cars this seems like a good plan.

A mean tease, they are being made down under. Lucky blokes.

I would like one of the bodies to put on a old customized frame. Time will tell.

Yes they were. But the way the Dynacorn bodies are sold, he would still need to hang all the suspension components under. That leaves a load of room for improvement. There are adaptable four links for the rear. There are numerous improved set ups for the front. Ford made many models with this basic frame design. Many aftermarket manufacturers have developed improved components that can be installed with little or no modifications. Starting with the bare body opens up a lot of options.

My bottom still remembers just how ba-aad they were. I had a standard '67 in an earlier life and in an earlier time. I wish I still had it...

It wouldn't be when I was done. I would just want the numbers and title for the older mustang.

I've restored a few mustangs when I was much younger. The body looks good after much tweaking but the suspension was junk. Much could be done to improve the electrical and ergonomics. Add a turbo 302 high performance engine and get fuel economy or performance.

"I would just want the numbers and title for the older mustang."

I don't know how it is in each state, but the registering of the new Camaro bodies was one of the stumbling blocks to the new bodies.

The first time the Camaro body went on sale, it was priced from $13- $15,000.

Here scratch built cars take three years to get title to. So with a little more work the worn out car saves you on taxes, insurance, and time.

For $13-15,000. I can rebuild the old body and have the welders etc. left over for free.

If you do the repairs to the original stang yourself, only you and the car condition can determine the costs. But if you are paying a shop for the metal repairs, you can eat up 15 G very fast.

I have a friend that is into Buicks. He has a few mid 60s full size ones. He has been doing each one better, and better as he goes on. His last one is a 64 Wildcat with 2x4s on the engine. We had talked about the Dynacorn Camaros a few times. One day I told him they were going to do a 64 Buick. He said he had twice that figure in bodywork.

Dynacorn started with a replacement body for 69 Camaro convertabiles. They expanded to build a hardtop version next. They were planning to build the last series Baracudda body, as well as the Mustang you showed. There were plans to build a pick up body as well, but I can't remember which one. Google them. They should be out there.
