Are You Lucky to Be Alive?

Posted February 19, 2009 4:59 PM by CarDomain

I've had a few close scrapes and have been involved in some nasty collisions, but I don't know anyone who has had a wreck like this and lived to tell the tale. Dave owned a beautiful Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet in the early 80s.

One December day shortly after switching to studded tires for the winter, he went into a corner carrying a bit too much speed and hit the cable guardrail. He woke up a minute later with two guys yelling at him, amazed that he was alive. He had slammed his face into the steering wheel pretty hard, but otherwise he was ok. Truly amazing! See pics of the car before the accident after the jump!

Wow! That's a tragedy for the car but a miracle for Dave! It looks like someone was looking out for him...

A while ago I saw a video on the worlds worst police chases where a Corvette was vaporized by a semi, at 90mph or better, in a high speed chase. The driver actually got up and tried to run from the police. He only suffered minor scrapes and bruises. Things like this always amaze me.

Dave undeniably experienced a miraculous deliverance from this mishap, and it amazes most people.

Another miracle takes place everyday for all of us. It's called waking up.

Yet I had a friend who hit the cable guardrail with his Corvette. The fiberglass passed through the cables. He didn't make it. Thanks I hadn't thought of him for years. Nice guy, good memories.
