Economic Recovery Act Is Good News For Clean Water And Rivers

Posted February 19, 2009 10:25 AM

From TreeHugger:

The US economic recovery package is great news for clean water and healthy rivers, and communities across the country will reap the benefits. The plan contains over $6 billion -- an unprecedented amount of money for clean water, drinking water, water efficiency, green infrastructure and river restoration. The funds will transform the way our country manages water â€" our country’s most vital resource â€" while creating good jobs, improving public health and safety, and creating more attractive, livable communities.

Great! As if we are all thirsty. Good place to piss away the money they confiscate from us. The Porkulus Bill regurgitated by the messiah and his socialist buddies is certainly putting the money where it belongs. In the sewer. I assume that the money going to the water treatment will be able to clean the ink from the money being dumped into the sewage system.

Why is it that people like you don't understand that the government can't do anything right?

Unbelievably stupid waste of my tax money.

Whoa. Hey there buddy. A little stressed out I think. Been reading a few too many political blogs, catching a little too much Rush. Not to worry -- it happens to all of us. Maybe you should just sit down for a minute. Take a few deep breaths. Relax. Let me get you a nice cool glass of wa....oh...right. Nevermind.

Right on Morgan! This "Stimulus" bill is nothing of the sort and there is so much unnecessary spending that I don't understand how anyone can think that it's going to have any positive effect at all. This bill is supposed to be a "stimulus" not an environmental bill and contrary to what the president seems to think, I don't believe that "stimulus" = spending...at least not when MY money is in the hands of the government. The dems laughed at G.W.'s $600 "stimulus" last year so what do they do this year...? They give a $400 stimulus that is spread out over the whole year!

But hey, not to worry...when this doesn't work, they'll just throw another trillion dollars or so at it. Oh and for all the "guests" out there who may reply and belittle how much a trillion actually is... that's $1,000,000,000,000!!!

Oh, sorry I think I went on a rant...

Never before has so much money been spent so quickly with so little debate or thought. President Chicken Little may have won the battle but I feel he will lose the war. There is nothing in that bill that is going to help those in desperate straits right now. About the only that I see that this stimulus package will stimulate are the tax collectors for the next 30 years to pay back this porker.

How long will it take for the idealists to realize that simply throwing money at issues is not the solution? Will they become disillusioned when their perception of utopia is not achieved and their kids and grandkids get saddled with real debt?

Mutter, mutter, mutter, . .. . .

Sir Robin,

I believe I'd think about changing my handle if I were you. After all it's the man in tights that all those idiots choose to venerate.

"Steal from the rich and give to the poor" may have a nice ring to it but it just doesn't ring true.

They are stealing from our future generations to give an offering to thier giah god (and of course thier own pockets will benefit).

But hey - God helps those that help themselves - right?

No, no, no, you have it all wrong. The last stanza is "Steal from the poor, give to the rich, stupid bitch."

That's more like the reality.

Cheers!!
