Combat Pilots Ejecting After Aircraft Crash

Posted March 23, 2009 11:13 AM

From Gizmodo:

This two-seat Sukhoi Su-24 combat aircraft crashed in a fiery ball of hell in an Iranian airfield last week. Nothing special about that, except that—amazingly enough—the pilots ejected safely after the crash. As you can see in the video, the Su-24 either had bad problems with its flaps—I wouldn't be surprised, since these Soviet planes are really old, even while they were best of class back in the 70s—or the pilot was drunk.

That was one really bad landing. The motors may not have been working very well either that was a lot of smoke, although they should have been able to save it once landing. Looks to me like the guy on the stick was a rookie.

Looks like every time they tested the shocks the pilot pulled the throttle and stick back. Probably not on purpose, they were really testing those shocks. The fuel was burning like it came out of the bottom of a ships tanks.
