Do Brain Trainer Games and Software Work?

Posted July 02, 2009 10:12 AM

From Scientific American:

The market for brain-training software continues to grow, but evidence of the programs' ability to boost memory or intelligence in a broadly applicable way (rather than simply making people better at the task they are practicing) remains scarce. New studies offer a tantalizing suggestion that certain programs may work--but the bulk of the research is murky.

I would have to say yes.

Many of the puzzles llike Soduko are math related, so I would go as far as to say they are just as good for your brain as Algebra or other basic math.

Other puzzles that make you match shapes, colors, or siimlar items work on your brain response time.

I'm sure there are a few games thats bill themselves are excercise brain training games that don't do much though.

To egg on (5 letters) .

There are plenty of other games too which will improve you brain skills without recourse to a computer or any electronics.
My 52 pasteboard pals will testify to this.
