Jupiter Smashed, Leaving Scar, NASA Confirms

Fifteen years after being battered by Comet Shoemaker-Levy, Jupiter has drawn the fire of another renegade body. A dark scar near the planet's southern polar region, first noticed by an amateur astronomer in Australia, is believed to have been caused by a comet crashing into the giant planet.

Hmmm. I think it's just another one of Intergalactic Collision Insurance Co.'s viral marketing campaigns.

Expect a series of annoying telemarketing calls next week from the general vicinity of the Crab Nebula.

A news report I read on BBC I believe said the "comet" was the size of the earth.
