Come out of hiding behind the AP mask and you'll get better response. The semi-obvious solution is to dry your stream(s) before they enter the exchanger. Give more information and you may get a better solution.

As well as a drying agent MeOH is used to break hydrates. You don't mention what sort of exchanger you have but if there is significant pressure drop, water content and low temps then hydrates may form and block flow paths. Dosing with MeOH causes the hydrates to break down freeing up the surface area.

I would think that this would be more of a problem with plate exchangers and the like

This still returns to:

Dry the streams before they go into the cold box

Or fix the leak so that the stream doesn't get wet in the first place

Or change the process so that water is not formed

there really is too much that we do not know about this process

You might use ethanol dosing for bribing a refrigeration technician to look at it.

How does the equipment manufacturer respond when approached on this problem by telephone?
