Insulation Resistance Test Voltage

06/20/2015 6:02 AM

According to IEEE 525, it stated the insulation acceptance for 600V cable. Is anyone know that the standard refers to a 500V/100Mohm or 1000V/2000Mohm test voltage ?

If it is for 1000V, what would be the standard to refer for the 500V ?

Is anyone know why using 500V test on 600V cable and 1000V test on 600V cable?

PWSlack, I'm not sure why you'd test a cable at 1000V which is rated at 600V. However, having said that, I think you can simply test it at 500V and subsequently lower values. You can observe the heat dissipation which is ultimately also judged by the potential drop being offered by the said cable. Please test the cable to three specified voltage levels as specified by IEEE standards to know the exact quality level.

I suggest you watch these two videos, write down the charts and what he says word for word and rehearse giving the presentation yourself.

By the time you memorize what he says, this information will not be easily forgotten, your English will be a little better, and you may make more money.

One last thing, you said, "Is anyone know that the standard refers to a 500V/100Mohm or 1000V/2000Mohm test voltage ?

Perhaps you meant to say, "Does anyone know if the standard refers to a 500V/100Mohm or 1000V/2000Mohm test voltage ?
