What? If you are concerned about direction, then you must be talking about a multiphase generator. (Yes or No?)

If that is the case, then are you not more concerned with the direction of the load? I mean, is it possible for the generator to be started in the wrong direction?

There are several phase sensitive protection relays on the market. Many of them include other features such as phase loss detection, under-voltage, and/or over-voltage detection. The connection setup comes with the product on a sheet of paper inside the box. You might have to buy a relay base for it to plug into because it is intended to be replaceable. If this is what you are looking for, help us a little so we can help you.

Otherwise, it is all guesswork.

NoturOrdinaryJoe.

Case is that,

we have a generator protection relay installed in generator control panel.During the testing of reverse power function of the protection relay, facing problem & need guide line to that, what is the right way to test this function in a sense of test connections, setting parameters & Simulation?

Thanks,

If the procedure is not in the manual that arrived with the equipment, then the first step is a telephone discussion with the equipment manufacturer.

Do let the forum know how it went, as it may well be useful to others.

http://www.usbr.gov/power/data/fist/fist3_8/vol3-8.pdf

Above is a link that should explain the procedure well enough to get a grasp on the procedure.

You need to obtain the OEM setup manual for the particular relay being tested and follow the test procedure outline in order to be successful as different relays have different setup & test procedures.

You must have a functional test set that is compatible with the relay being tested.

If reading the test procedure in the relay manual does not make sense or testing does not yield the results you expect, then you must contact the relay manufacturer for directions.

Good luck & stay safe.
