I want to prepare the MTO after preparing hook up diagram.

But as you said from schematic i will not get the list of bulk materials & accessories for connection of the instrument to process.

Please give an example on how to prepare Hook up & MTO from schematic.

Thanks.

If you can't figure out what materials are required for a simple instrumentation hook-up, then you are in the wrong line of work.

Look for work you are qualified to perform. Don't ask others to do your work for you!

Alright, let's try this.

What do you think is needed to hook the instrument wiring into place?

Is this the first time you have done this?

On the one end, you have the instrument. Does it have leads, terminals, or lugs?

Then there is the hook-up wire. Self explanatory.

Next we have the sensor, I guess, but who knows?

Why not send the forum photos of the various components you are trying to hook up?

You could always ask the instrument supplier how to do this.

What if he's using pneumatic instrumentation?

OP, bear in mind that one symbol (or icon) generally represents one real-world item. If you are working with a paper schematic, I recommend a high-light marker (I generally prefer yellow). If you are working on a computer device, I wouldn't recommend the marker. Make an entry on your MTO, mark it on the schematic (to prevent duplication). Repeat as necessary. When everything is yellow'ed, you're finished. All's good, except for the length of interconnecting wire, tubing, string, or what have you. Then you are on your own.

Thanks for your apt response !

The instrument for hook up is a flow control valve with pneumatic actuator .

Solenoid controlled .

Here cable will routed through conduit .

Your response will be highly appreciable.

You should have said this earlier.

It's too late now.

You said, "this forum is to discuss & to improve our skills & knowledge."

This forum is NOT here to do your job for you. That is what you are asking this forum to do.

I do not believe that you are capable of hooking this device up properly and certainly not competent to maintain it.

Get someone else to do your work for you.

The best thing to do is look for a Mentor at the facility who is doing the work already. Shadow that individual, and learn from the experience.

Make sure the colors of your lines are the same at both ends.

1) Instrument Hook-up drawings are typically isometric drawings, so I recommend that you get yourself some isometric sketch paper (or download a printable template).

2) I suggest you read a tutorial and check out some hook-up examples. The task of making the lists is just the grunt work of starting at one connection and listing all the pieces to complete the connection to other end.

There is a hook-up drawing tutorial power point and two documents that are collections of hook-up drawings on Scribd.com, a file sharing site. To download from Scribd, one must register and first upload an acceptable document for each download.

I like that isometric sketching paper.

Never seen it before. I just sketch free hand.

If it is a one off then building straight of the schematic and photo documenting would work.

Have to agree with Lynn that not being able to design a physical model and a prepare a BOM from a schematic or wiring diagram is a worry.

Start with a pencil and paper. Make sure you use standardised icons. You will have to pick a standard.

As for the MTO I'd start here.

I would not know what it was but I would not need to either!

Good luck!

Think of what the Instrument Technician needs to know and has to have available in order to connect it right first time. You need to draw it, you need to list it, and the Technician needs to understand and apply it. That's about it, really.

I really hate it when a poster uses an acronym and then fails to define it. I have a feeling it is Material take off but who knows, it could be Methanol-to-Olefin?

You got that right! Good answer!

Sometimes I think people use these cute little acronyms or abbreviations as if we are supposed to know what they mean. Perhaps they are trying to sound intelligent when the truth is quite the opposite.
