Lots of CO2 for one thing. I dropped a Lead Acid battery one time on some limestone. It looked like the biggest root beer float you ever saw!

2 NaHCO3 (s) + H2SO4 (aq) --> Ha2SO4(aq) + 2 CO2 (g) + 2 H2O (l)

Except for a typographic error, NA2SO4(aq), you have the correct chemical reaction.

GA!

[I thought for a minute you introduced Hafnium into the reaction somehow but that symbol is Hf not Ha. N is just one row off from H on a QWERTY keyboard.)

this brings up an off topic question. Why doesn't super script and sub script work in some posts? In my experience, they appear correctly in the text editor, but not in the published text. For example x2 (x squared) or H2O (water)

I find it works in Internet Explorer but not on Google Chrome.

Oddly in the Google Chrome editor window that I used to make my reply it seemed to work. Now I see that my reply has no subscripts.

Don't you love how software doesn't have to follow any standard protocols.

Going a little bit farther:

Put the bicarb. into the acid solution and the reaction happens as planned. Put the acid into the solid bicarb. and the product is a big hot explosion of acid. If this splashes on you or others there is no worry about the reaction. The big worry is how fast the ambulance will get there. Don't forget the safety shower and eye wash in the mean time, use it!.

Good Luck, Old Salt

I think it should be Na2SO4 not Ha2SO4

Baked acid sounds more like a Dr. Timothy Leary flashback.

A thick ear! - that's what I got!

I clumsily overfilled a car battery with distilled water and tried to neutralize the spilt overflow.

Mum was not happy I used her baking soda.

With you doing it, I expect the primary by-product is that you will get acid on yourself, and be hurt by the CO2 explosion where you attempted to contain the mixture in some way. - 1st byproduct: personal injury

2nd byproduct: excessive release of the very nasty carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, has O not told you about dangerous global warming (I like to call it worldwide nasal warning when AlGore mentions it).

3rd byproduct: the very hydrated (often useful in the most dry state) sodium sulphate (not sodium sulfate, just to confuse you). That is about it, other than the water that results from neutralization reactions involving acids and bases in aqueous solution.
