There is the risk of complete embarrassment if the shame includes the stain.

As my father used to say, the sphincter muscle is the smartest muscle in the human body. It must differentiate between a gas, a liquid, and a solid, and is correct most of the time.

A lot of people put baking soda in the fridge to absorb odors. It works because baking soda acts as a buffering agent, i.e., it controls pH levels. Most things that smell bad have a pH either high (basic) or low (acidic).

Are you looking for an industrial solution?

What's wrong with the answers here?

Hydrogen Sulfide AKA H2S is a lethal gas depending on the concentration and the odor is only noticeable at lower concentrations. Higher levels are odorless and deadly. Removing the smell seems like a useless exercise when the proper method is to remove the sulphur. I worked in the gas business at the refining level and this stuff has snuffed quite a few lives. Most of the time in the area one would work under air either with a certified air source or SCBA. If it is a FART as the joking implies then I suggest that the smell is for the benefit of the deaf.

Yes, Kulas, sodium bicarbonate is just about basic enough to absorb hydrogen sulphide, and produce sodium sulphide. You would have better luck with sodium carbonate (soda ash), though.

My question is why? If in the oil patch, or a CO2 plant or refinery, they already have ways to recover the H2S and convert it to sulphur. This seems as an exercise in time wastage.

How does suppression happen in an astronaut's spacesuit, then?
