Jibberish Postings

07/13/2015 4:40 PM

I have recently updated my email address for this CR4 forum. I'm disturbed that the daily email suggested three postings in Chemical and Material Science that appeared to either be posted by some jibberish generator or a mentally unstable person. When attempting to read the posts it was announced that they had been removed, but I can't help wondering how they got there in the first place. Could someone fill me in on what's going on? Thanks.

Those are usually spam postings. Admins does a pretty good job of weeding them out, but on the weekends CR4 gets hit by a bunch of them. When I see them, I report it as "Spam" to Admins, then I reply to the post and simply put "Reported". This alerts others that they do not need to report it.

Sooner or later, someone from Admins will check on the "reports" and delete it.

This is not to say that we don't get our share of mentally unstable posters.

I could name some of the more outrageous ones, but...............................I guess I won't.

So what would we get if we took a mentally unstable person and had them use a gibberish generator?
