I think that this is probably the wave of the future where there are hundreds or thousands of these scattered throughout the nation powering our industry city by city!

harnessing fusion is not a new idea but no one has been able to do it to this point. I feel there's a good chance for a breakthrough in the near future, places like the Skunk works and MIT have the brightest minds around. I'm just staying on top of topics that interest me
The last time I dipped my toe into the fusion research articles, reactors had acheived a net energy gain. They have nowhere near enough surplus heat production to generate electricity, let alone to run themselves, not to speak of an external load, or making any profit. The hurdles increase dauntingly.
I hope they're right, the only thing needed is stronger magnets. They say fusion is the technology of the future and always will be. The problem has always been scaling... down not up. (If you scale it up enough, it happens by itself, like in the sun.)
I ran across that a couple days ago and been mulling it over. It's only possible with the new magnet materials so far. I'm curious as to what happens with molted lava ball if the reactor's magnetic fields collapsed, will we have a Hi-tech China Syndrome as the core burns it way ....
OMG- Where's Jane Fonda?
All kidding aside, it would be awesome if they could get these into production in less than 50 years. At the rate the EV industry is growing, I don't think the green energy sector is going to be able to keep up with the demand. And it's not just EV's draining the grid either, that wasn't including all the new electronics that being plugged in at the same time.
The general public (tree huggers) go'n have come to realize that to continue their current and future life styles nuclear energy is going have to be included with it. Without it ........well, just say'n
