Hard to decide which, but it's a road in Hythe,Kent.

My second guess is that film with Yul Bryner and Tony Curtis. The one where Tony and some aged Cossack leap a canyon. Little know fact, but it was filmed on one of our many pothollled roads.

If it's on this planet, my guess is under the Greenland icecap.

Blue sky would indicate our planet.

I'm having trouble believing it is Earthly terra firma though.

I don't recall seeing those colors in either Utah or Arizona.

Lest I give it away, I'll just say that the color is added (completely), not enhanced.

I've looked at lots of these, in real time in a past life.

The handsome guy right there, certainly knows how to tell the difference. When you are walking home, how can you tell that you found a chocolate cookie or a dog poop along the way?

You gotta taste it!!!

Nope, it's a cookie

Your post highlights an interesting phenomenon. I don't know, or know of, Tammy Bakker so i just took it that she was 1. a lady 2. wore a lot of make up.

If these assumptions are correct i can see no offense intended. However if the person was a transvestite i can see that some would take offense, but not me.

OR if the person was burnt by a jealous rival ( or any other malicious act ) and had to wear covering makeup, I would take umbrage.

In the same way, people can be offended by what THEY believe the intent to be, regardless of what the utterer meant. Conversely, a person can utter derogatory words without the target being offended if they don't understand the intent. Nowadays a geek will wear the title with pride and not be offended regardless of the intent. Wouldn't it be great if golliwog and some other old words, could be treated in the same way?

Jim

Re: What Is It?

She was the wife of a dis-honest televangelist who stole millions from Bible Belt red necks. She was in on the deal as well, but survived to have a career as a guest on talk shows. She ALWAYS wore way too much make-up, especially for someone who at one time was the chief hymn singer on her husband's TV show on the Christian network.(i.e. - she looked like a downtown whore) Okay - now you know who she was.

This joke about make-up followed her all her life, and was worn out long long ago. This was an attempt at a polite way of saying that. Usually these jokes end when the person on the receiving end has passed away.

You said;-

Usually these jokes end when the person on the receiving end has passed away.

The Pharoes believed that as long as their name was uttered they lived on. Maybe if that were true then people like her should never have their name said again! Did this sort of sentiment pass on to us expressed as in your statement above? Or do we just want to forget people like them and we say "don't speak ill of the dead."

Where's Lyn? I need him to tell me i've got too much time on my hands. It's true! I am sitting at the computer waiting for the community bus to come and take my wife to the community centre. She has dementia and i have to be here to hand her over and to receive her when she is brought back. Good to have the 6 hrs to myself.

I am so sorry about your wife. My Mother-in-Law died from Alzheimer's, so i know what you are going through. I am currently monitoring my wife very closely because of that.

I haven't noticed you on the site so often, but wonder how Lyn and Fredski can spend so much time at the computer. Perhaps in a year or two, when I retire, I will "live" on CR4 as well.

The 12 people killed were not in Zion NP, but south of there on the AZ/UT border.

I was referring to the 7 hikers who were killed in a keyhole gorge, swept 4 miles down stream by a sudden thunderstorm and local flash flood, in Zion Nat'l Park, not the others you mentioned, who were also washed away by flash flooding, in a different locale. I assume the hikers were within the confines of Zion, as the Park Service said it was in their jurisdiction.

Sorry, my mistake.

You are right. The Keyhole is a deadly place, with no escape during a flash flood, and is inside Zion.

The Mormons were just careless.

That is BEAUTIFUL country. I live just outside of Brice Canyon/Zion for 6 months.

Bryce and Zion (North Rim , Gand Canyon, too)..are two of the prettiest places I have ever visited. That drive into Zion, thru the tunnels with glimpses out into the canyon is to die for. My daughter and friends camped there last spring, and since it was early in the season, with no precipitation, it was, empty and perfect perfect, but cool. You are a lucky person living that close!@

Just for clarity, I should have said "lived" there for 6 months. That was when I was working a temporary job in Cedar City and had a generous housing allowance and weekends off to explore Southern Utah.

One of the guys who worked for me lived in Brian Head at 9,500 feet. Great skiing in the winter, I hear.

FEI is proud to announce that Martina Dienstleder of the Institute for Electron Microscopy at the Graz University of Technology has been awarded the grand prize in the 2011 FEI Owner Image Contest for her entry "Microcanyon". The image was selected by FEI experts from the three monthly finalists, including "Alveoli" by Oliver Meckes and "Lamnacarus Ornatus" by Angelika Reichmann. Overall, the entries were judged on their aesthetic appeal, application and scientific relevance, and overall creativity. Martina's entry shows a micro-crack in steel after bending tests, and the resulting image inspired her to colorize the micrograph, creating an amazing likeness of a canyon. The image was colorized by colleague Manuel Paller.

Just sayin, ya know!!

Wasn't sure what it was, but it obviously wasn't a PLACE. There are no weather erosions on the surfaces or cracks, no rounded smooth edges.....so I figured it had to be an enlarged image of something small. Anyone who has been out west in the U.S. and has seen the canyon areas would not be fooled into thinking it was a land feature.

Rainbow canyon in UK! Its actually very small, more like 10 cm deep and the top layer of a oil contaminated sand at a beach close to London.
