Fixing a Chrome Problem Under Ubuntu Linux

I had the recent problems, well known but seemingly not understood, nor fixed, with the Adobe Flash program.

So I installed Google Chrome instead.

Chrome works far better than I expected, in some areas faster than Firefox.

But, I cannot get Chrome to open a window when I click on a link say in an email. The Ikon "wobbles" showing me that it has received the link information and if I then open Chrome manually, the link is right there.

Does anyone know the setting to allow Chrome to open a new window automatically when I click on any link?

I am frustrated that I cannot find the setting myself and the Chrome help website is no help.

FWIW(Firefox): Firefox has had about 4 upgrades to Flash. Each time, FF disables Flash until the upgrade is done. I think, just this week there were 3 or 4 upgrades, a day after each other requiring you to install the latest Flash, For now it's 11.2.240.540.

Adobe, of course doesn't make it easy to do so.

Adobe is only porting security fixes to Flash. The last update was 10/22/15

Be careful, there is a Chrome and Chromium browser.

Andy- you may have to download the "chrome toolbox", if yours didnt come with it.. I had mine setup in such a way that clicking a link will open a new tab on the chrome browser.. I believe you can download it free from CNET site.. Good luck!

I take it that a new tab is opening instead? I prefer a new tab myself and often center-click on links for that reason. Center click opens a new tab in the current window.

Sort of an unrelated problem, but my wife recently upgraded her laptop to Windows 10, and we replaced our old Canon printer (that was a dog IMHO) with a new HP one. I have no issues printing on the Windows 7 platform from my all-in-one computer. About every time she sends something over the wireless connection (that is how this puppy operates), it just sits there forever, or she gets a message about no driver found. Then she does all this gobbledygook, rigmarole, and installs (somehow) a new driver, and then it works for about one instance.

WTF? over?

I have a similar problem with my blue tooth printer. I figured, having to retrieve the copy, I may as well start over to the copier a few minute early, and just plug my laptop to the printer with usb cable. works every time.

Microsoft W 8.1 and W 10 are both piece-o-crap junk!

I refuse to upgrade to W 10 now that I have W 8.1 so it's mostly useable.

I had the opposite on my laptop which refused to print to my HP all in one under Win7. When I installed Win10, at the end a box popped up saying 'found HP wireless printer, do you want to connect it?' Job done, works perfectly.
