PET images of neurons firing during word/memory association.

actually it was once thought that if you had a stroke you lost millions of brain cells and there was nothing that could be done. science is changing that thinking. RAM (cheater) was close about the PET image but what I was looking for was growth differentiation factor 10 (GDF10)

your brain already produces small amounts of this repairing substance and begins to make connections that were lost or damaged during the stroke event. work is being done to develop a drug that does the same on a larger scale

Sorry, I didn't need to look that one up, I've always had a fascination for how the brain, mind, and body work; after all, they're just a bunch of subsystems that share data with each other, no different than a power system. That particular PET scanning research has been going on for quite a few years, now they're trying to decode how the messages get set up. Cool stuff.

you're right, the big deal in all my current research is on cell signaling. stem cells hold amazing promise but they have to get a 911 call and mapquest directions to know where to go and who to rescue.

if you really are into this topic you might look at a San Diego co. called Stemedica or Google them+ Gordie Howe

I recommend you do, they have the hottest stuff under patent

The Discovery Channel ran a video this last weekend on this subject.

It is very fascinating as they are using a highly sensitive microphone coupled to an oscilloscope to probe the brain.

I only caught the very end of it but I did see that each area of the brain emits a different wavelength allowing the medical community to not only map the brain better but also to provide very accurate feedback to the surgeon(s) where the issues are located and where their tools are at.

I will be backtracking to find the program title and watch it from the beginning.

I recently lost a dear friend to Alzheimer's and it woke me up to the need for finding a cure for that dreadful disease.

Before going through this with my friend I had no idea that the disease basically dissolves the brain nor did I even begin to understand what the victims go through.

I also read an AMA topic on treatment of mental illness with concentrated magnetic waves of different frequencies is very promising and may eliminate many brain disorders without surgery.

Try looking at asthma medications. I read in a pharma newletter, that I get, that they've managed to return aged rats brains to function cognitively as well as very young rats with an asthma medication that reduces inflammation. Can't remember the brand name. It was the inflammation reducing effect that restored the cells per their educated reasoning. Tests still to be done.

I think Keytones, coconut oil is full of them and good for the brain.

What about olive oil?

It turns the fire on when you reach climax, every time. Firing them often may burn some of them so sooner until there is none- it's the result usually for drug abuser.

Eerily similar to the last scan I had done after open-head surgery. I watched the whole thing as the scan was being done.
