How Do I Change My Company's Googlemap Location?

You might need some patience and persistence. When our company moved a few years, it took a while for the map to get updated, despite several requests.

As an amusing sideline about maps, sometimes mistakes are deliberately included as traps to catch copyright violators. The DeLorme topographic atlas for Washington (1995) has a nice surprise about 13 miles north and 3 miles east of Mt. St. Helens.

Another Washington map I've seen misnames the village of Alderdale as "Adelaide".

Ah yes, the 'trap streets' or 'trap alleys.'

I actually found one on a Rand McNally map of Chicago. where Northwest Highway (a diagonal street) meets a normal intersection, it fails to make a proper 'six corners' and produces a triangular island in the middle of three intersections. The way they meet puts Northwest Highway Northeast of the regular intersection, so if you're traveling north on NW Highway (it follows the 'north-south' numbering scheme in Chicago) you hit the east-west street before the north-south street. On the map it shows NW Highway hitting southwest of the regular intersection, so you would hit the N-S street before the E-W street. I got really turned around following the map one evening, thinking I had overshot my turn. NW Highway parallels a rail line, so missing your turn isn't just, "I'll catch it a block over," it's "What suburb will I be in at the next turn, and how drunk was their civic planning committee when they laid out the roads?" (Twisting meandering roads are fine within a subdivision, but it should be all be bounded by a nice grid layout, and downtown Pookipse should NOT have confusing, meandering streets, especially if you turn the streetlights OFF at dusk because most of the town is in bet by that time.)

Considering that the only ones up are the cops sitting in their card waiting for an 'out-of-towner' to make a wrong turn at one of the MANY poorly lit intersections and head the wrong way down a barely marked one-way street. It's say they're 'winning' a fair share (or more) for the city coffers.

One of our companies had that problem before, we just contacted Google Maps and they were very accommodating and helpful and they followed up and made sure everything was correct when the process was done.

This demonstrates the beauty of the UK postcode system, which shows through as the new address would have contained a new postcode, that when you put it into say a UK GPS, would have got anyone very close to the new location. Even without Google.....

Sometimes you do not even need to know the street name even, though the house number might be needed for final clarification!!!

Germany is really poor (worse even than anywhere else I have ever been!) with regards to the accuracy of postcodes, you could even be up to 20 kilometers away from where you REALLY want to go!! Just using the postcode is simply not enough info, even though the GPS does not query it and takes you sometimes to the wrong town!!!

When I was working in the Locksmith trade, it happened a few times in Hessen....I learnt to always key in the whole address quite quickly....DUUHHH!!! That helped!!

Postcodes are still not 100% reliable when using Google Maps. For example, I had to take my daughter to an audition in Guildford some time ago. I entered the destination postcode, and the map location came up about a mile from the actual location. The venue had moved locations in the previous year.

What I assume happened was that Google translated the postcode to the name of the venue, then presented the previous street address of the venue on the map as the current location.

It would be interesting to find out, but how?

At least you were within a mile, I have been up to 15 miles "wrong" here, the codes are basically useless....and I am not claiming that was a "worse case" either...

I have no idea how "good" the US codes are, but they surely cannot be wrorse than here.....

I talked to a businessman a few years ago who had been fighting with Google for years about their inaccuracy of the location of his business. They were not very responsive.
