If they want to rebuild the Titanic for this, they'll have to do some tough Charpy tests, and/or pick a different metal....

If they have figured out that this is icebergs floating on nitrogen (as if the correct word is floating when on top of a solid), then what is "mysterious"?

1. "....isolated hills that may be fragments of water ice from Pluto's surrounding uplands". "May" does not confirm a fact.

2. "It was obtained at a range of approximately 9,950 miles (16,000 kilometers) from Pluto, about 12 minutes before New Horizons' closest approach to Pluto on July 14, 2015". Little bit far away to confirm any definitives that may be useful.

I doubt this confirms anything but pure speculation on behalf of a positive mindset that is filled with hope. Many illusion exist. They only produce misdirection at days end.
