50 Coolest Movie Robots

07/30/2007 4:33 PM

The Times Online has released a list of what they deem are the 50 coolest movie robots ever made. The criteria were:

  • Plausibility (meaning how likely it would be that, with advances on currently existing technology, such a device could be built)
  • Coolness (just how well designed, shiny or generally well-appointed the robot appeared to be)
  • Dangerousness (scoring not only on built-in weaponry, but the robot's eagerness to use it) Related Links
  • Comedy Value (how effective the robot is at providing light relief in the film in which it appears)

Do you agree with their list? What's missing?

The Loader from Aliens. or those big ol' walkin' gun platforms from the last Matrix movie. . . now that I think of it, none of my favorite robots are "robots."

I think it's because I want something I can DRIVE!

Robot, self-governing, programmable electromechanical device used in industry and in scientific research to perform a task or a limited repertoire...

Sci Fi, any human shaped electro mechanical non-sense that will sell the movie.

Well guys boys toys I think?
