Hi All,
I was having trouble with Windows Update on my Windows 7 laptop. It goes into a sort of infinite loop looking for updates and won't download available updates. So I went online with "Windows 7 won't update" and came across this gem below:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-update/windows-update-remains-at-checking-for-updates/ff3c442e-79a6-40d3-ac35-29e130cebef1
Have a look at Canadian Tech's comments. This problem seems very deeply rooted and he articulates that Windows is going from an Operating System to an Advertising Platform hence it is free. I think it is the first time I have had it spelled out: In days gone by the OS let you control what is on the box. That is now gone with MS. For me this is a startling revelation. Perhaps it is time to seriously consider Apple or Linux.
I guess the loss of control bugs me. Should I worry about it? Yes. I want to control as much as I can about my personal details if for no other reason than unwanted solicitation and identity fraud.
And as a continued annoyance Windows 7 still won't update...
Comments? Is anybody else concerned?
