[Career Planning] How I Can Determine Main Area?

05/04/2016 12:33 PM

Hello everyone. I'm studying mechanical engineering but now I'm at Foreign language preparation class. I am improving myself about aircraft and space areas. I wanted to be expert in these areas. I am looking some books. Such as "Aircraft Design" (Daniel P. Raymer) and I am looking Aerodynamic. I ve talked this issue with someone and they said "You have to determine main, spesific, area. Yea you want to be expert in these areas but which one? prupolsion? aerodynamic? control? such and such." How ı can determine this? I think ıt will be better as quick as ı determine.

(I am sorry for my language. I guess have poor english. I am improving :D)

Usually you will get a non-specific, general job based on a good basic education in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering at a company that is involved in aerospace. Then you work your ass off for a decade or two in the field learning about how much you don't know. You will let your supervisor know that you are interested in life-long learning and you will continue to read everything you can get your hands on. With any luck, you will be on a project where you prove to your boss that you can take direction, complete simple tasks, and are capable of independent thought as well. During all this you will be taking night classes to get your graduate degree because HR won't let you get promoted without it. Has nothing to do with how much you know, it's just they need to be able to check the box. At some point during all this, you will find a topic that interests you and makes the company a lot of money. Now you have a chance at becoming an expert. Usually only takes about 35 to 40 years. Still with me?

I am exactly still with you. You are right but These are concerning to ordinary people. If you are not ordinary, You don't know that what is the meaning "impossible". I don't know this and I will never learn. If I want to do something, It will done. even so Thank you for suggestion :)

"Re: [Carrier Planning] How i can determine main area?"

The main area of a Carrier usually depends on what type of cargo it will transport. For Aircraft try this place, for freight carriers try here or for personnel carriers try here. The list can go on and ...... You decide what your looking for

Ty bro. you are clear. I'm agree with you and I'm still with you but I wanna say something, Elon Musk says "I think it is possibe for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary". I think too. It's just related with work. Just work

It's best to start from the ground up approach....So you must decide either a pilot or a mechanic or aviation design?

You shouldn't need to choose right away. Take some classes in each of these sub-disciplines; you'll need an overall background, anyway. And then you will find which of these areas best matches your growing abilities and interests. After a year or two, then pick your focus.

Strangers can tell you what subject you will be good at.

Only people who know you and your talents well can help you.

Google A&P Mechanic and see if that might interest you.

Aerodynamics is a competitive field to enter into. Everyone wants to be a rocket scientist.

It's best to be mechanically inclined if your interest is in mechanical engineering. What I mean is, you should understand mechanics, There's nothing worst than trying to repair something that a "book wise" engineer designed that has no clue of what it takes to access and repair some equipment. Everything looks great on "paper", but ...... If your not mechanically inclined, find another of study, you and the rest of the world will be much happier
