Research For a Material Name Meaning

11/01/2016 8:49 PM

I'm making a training module for our Shaft process, and i would like to elaborate the materials we used. For additional information to my module, i would like to add the metal material names like "SUS303" or "SUM24l".

Does anyone know the meaning of SUS and SUM? please help me out on this.

SUS and SUM are Japanese standard JIS

SUS303 is stainless 303...and SUM 24L is steel 12114...

I bet machinery set-up for subtractive manufacturing is far different between those two metals...

Not iron, steel.

To answer your question, no.
