Power Plant Performance Guarantees

11/10/2016 8:09 PM

Hey Guys,

I am working on a HFO power plant project, 5.5 MW. I need for advice as it relates to availability guarantee and capacity guarantee. What is the running hours for each. Is there some standard which i can refer to?

You could try searching for power plant consultants.

No details = no help.

The gear set in your avatar is locked so that can never turn. That's a great design for the future.

OK, you are talking Heavy Fuel Oil plant. We need a little more input other than the projected output power of 5.5 MW. If in the United States, you need to look for the FERC regulations on availability and reliability, and how contracts develop.

The running hours will depend on your market, which grid you are interconnected with, and who will be handling your load dispatch strikes. Typically, the buyer orders power at a given level within the range of your unit, and will order it for a specified number of hours, although sometimes open dispatch orders can be received, that the unit may be left online indefinitely, until the buyer calls to end the order.

You really might want to look into hydrogen augmentation of the HFO, especially with ICE prime mover. Up to 30% fuel conservation with only a small fraction of mass addition of hydrogen is possible in all ICE where fuel is injected. I fail to see how you can possibly run this fuel with gas turbine, other than indirect heating of the gas, so I leave that off the consideration.

You have the tail wagging the dog. It is your job to determine the number of hours and performance guarantees that you want the manufacturers/vendors to quote a price on. Most major manufacturers rate their units for Standby, Continuous, or Prime duty, and each classification has its own operational/service loading schedule, with guarantees suited to each duty.

Your easiest path is to contact them directly with your particular duty requirements.

Yes. The Client's acceptance criteria. <sigh>

Is there some documents you can find on the archive? Go on, read them.
